The Local Environment


Introduction/Aim:

The Artarmon and Willoughby district is a 24kmsq km, located to the west of Middle Harbour, Sydney. This area had been used since the 19th century for a variety of city related activities however still contains significant areas of native bush land. This report provides a description of land use and development changes that have taken place in this area. It also shows the interaction between environmental impact and the essential environmental elements.

Geological Features:

The following geological sections have affected land use in such ways as creating prime locations for brick production areas (sandstone dug outs) these areas were mined as such and are now left bare and useless. These locations have also created unstable foundations for surrounding buildings/factories etc.
