review of Sir Martin Reese's book on environment protection

This book brings forward the problem of current industrialization, urbanism and motorization leading to an environmental disaster. Sir Martin Rees, a 61-year old veteran of the anti-nuclear movement, believes that the lack of awareness among society members - economic institutions, particularly – will lead to two of the most serious environmental problems: global warming and biodiversity loss.

These two issues became a threat after the Industrial Revolution event, when changing agricultural and industrial practices began altering the climate and environment. Population growth, fossil fuels burned to run cars, heat homes and businesses, increased agriculture and deforestation are only a few of the human actions that led to the greenhouse effect. By releasing too many gases into the atmosphere, the concentration of the greenhouse gases – primarily carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide - rose and led to an increase in temperature.
