A Christian pacifist believes in non-violence, no matter what the problem. They believe this because Jesus taught it and stuck by it throughout his life. Because of this, a Christian pacifist cannot believe that war is justifiable under any circumstances. Many Christians do believe in fighting to defend themselves, but pacifists refuse to fight. There are lots of reasons for this, but one of the main reasons is Jesus’ teachings. Christian Pacifists point to a number of passages in the Gospels to support their views. ”But now I tell you, do not take revenge on someone who wrongs you. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, let him slap your left cheek two. Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may become the children of your Father in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:38-46) In this passage Jesus teaches us not to take revenge and to love our enemies.
