“Do Kids Need Religion?”
“Children need some kind of structure and feedback, such as religion, to develop values in their lives” (Ochieng 94). This statement is a strong testament to my belief that, children do need to be introduced to religion. Brandt opposes my beliefs throughout his essay, Do Kids Need Religion? He believes that, “children can be taught values and courage without religion” (Brandt 190). Should children be forced into religious beliefs? If religion is introduced and forced onto a child, it may be rejected, resulting in rebellion. Children should be introduced to religion and make a decision when they are mature enough. Brandt admits, “To raise children in a culture without at least exposing them to its religious traditions, may be doing them a disservice” (195). Although Brandt objects most ways of religion, he expresses the need of at least introducing children to religion.
