relative atomic mass of lithium

Determination of the relative atomic mass of lithium

Aim
The main aim if this coursework is to find the relative atomic mass of lithium.
This is done using two methods.
- By measuring the volume of hydrogen produced.
- By titrating the lithium hydroxide produced.
Amount of lithium given=0.09gms
Required
Burette, pipette, 4 conical flasks, a bee-hive beaker, rubber tube, a measuring cylinder, a stand and goggles and a lab coat for safety.

Method -1
„« We first take a 250cm3 conical flask and filled it with 100cm3 of distilled water using a pipette.
„« Then take a 250cm3 burette and fill it up with water. We turn the burette upside down in a bowl containing water and then place a tube inside it that¡¦s other end goes inside the conical flask.
„« Take the 0.09gms of lithium given and add it to the conical flask and close it using a stopper.
„« We collect the gas evolved in the burette and record the final volume.
„« Fin...
