Relationship between teacher praise and opportunity to respond

Though this research article described the relationship between praise given by a teacher and the opportunity to respond to an academic request. The authors observed 20 classrooms who primarily taught children with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). They hypothesized that “an opportunity to respond was likely to occur within five seconds of a teacher praise statement,” which was based on research done in the past on students with EBD.
