Reflective essay on "A Man" and "The First Frost"

Literary Analysis

Losing anything in life can definitely have a traumatizing effect on a person. All loss isn’t good. No one likes to lose. It’s just something that happens. Losing is a part of life. When someone loses their arm in war like in the poem “A Man” by Nina Cassian, it has great effects, as well as losing something very special to you as in the poem “First Frost” by Andrei Voznesensky. These poems teach us that loss can be dreadful at times.
The man in the poem “A Man” loses his arm because he wanted to fight for his country. It states in the poem “ From now on, I shall only be able to do things by halves.” This statement refers to the man who ad already lost his arm, and can no longer do anything to the fullest.
