Reflection: Immersion in Tarucan

It was fine and sunny morning of Saturday, August 31, 2003. The group of fourth year management student of College of the Holy Spirit went in the place of the Aetas in Tarucan for a two days immersion. For eight hours walking in lahars, eight hours walking under the heat of the sun, a very tiring moment with a limited supply of water, living far with your family and living with the people whom we do not know is one of the most sacrificing moments in our lives. However, inspite of these sacrifices there are many lessons we learned and experiences that we need to reflect. Before my teacher told us that we are required to go to Tarucan for immersion, I have always wanted to see what it would be like in living with the aetas and to experience another culture. It has always been a dream for me to go to a missionary work and to live with other people with different cultures and tradition, and this gave me the opportunity to get a small taste of what it might involve.
