A Modern Day "Red Scare"?

After the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001, Americans were boosted into a patriotic craze, unlike anything seen for fifty years. However, while increased solidarity among citizens is comforting, the new laws that are being passed in response to the event are largely disturbing.
First came the extra security, not just at airports, but at malls, train stations, and even the grammer school down the street. While under a patriotic daze, Americans willfully surrendured their rights in the interest of creating a larger defense budget, but as time moves on, more and more citizens are becoming disallusioned with two hour waits at airports - especially when the flight departs in thirty minutes.
