“Recalled to Life”
The story A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, shows how many of the characters’ lives at first are completely hopeless, but then are given another chance by their lives being resurrected. Charles Dickens expresses resurrection as a major theme in this story. He gives several examples of how different characters in the story helped others when their lives were virtually at an end.
Dickens uses several characters in this story that help save the lives of the other characters. The first character whose life is resurrected is Dr. Alexandre Manette. His life is brought back to life after being in a prison for eighteen years with the help from his daughter, Lucie Manette. The next character is Charles Darnay. He was saved from his death from one of his true friends. The last character is Sydney Carton. His life was seemed to be wasting away every moment, until someone showed him who he could be.
