Reality of War
(4-Page Short Story - Third Person)

Chaos. That was the only word to describe what was happening now. How issues were settled, how disputes were solved, how wars were won. Joey could only feel this was how things in the real world were solved.
Gunfire clattered constantly, drowned out only by huge explosives detonating and the painful screams of men. The visible smell of smoke and death hung in the air, so thick that an oily residue tainted an otherwise calm and serene sky.
The smoke had hid him safely for a few moments. He appeared over the tanned bullet-riddled sandbags. The constant noise of gunfire muffled his racing heartbeat. Joey could only be grateful for that in this nightmarish place he called Hell.
Confusion reigned supreme this day as it had with wars in the past. People died; not purposely, but randomly. Those who died were made so by chance, those alive simply from luck. Each soldier fighting for what by now they had e...
