Reaction to the powm in 1864

The poem made me angry, but in two different ways. First I was frustrated and it made me so angry I wanted to rip the poem into tiny little pieces. This frustration and anger led me to put the poem away until a later time. I read the poem again and I became angry again, but this time it was different. This time I was angry because of my ancestors. I felt responsible even though it was not my fault. The poem made me want to cry. This anger was kind of helpless and sad.
