Retailing is selling products and services to consumers for personal use. It is the second largest industry in the United States both in number of establishments and number of employees. Retail is one of the fastest growing, most dynamic parts of the world economy. Careers in retail are fast-paced, people oriented, and exciting. (Encyclopedia 499) This field is worth taking a good look at, particularly if you like these sorts of things. There are several options, many including store management, buying, merchandising and central management. This paper will focus mainly on the management position.
