Rain Man

Biological Approach - Examines how our genes, hormones, and nervous system interact with our environments to influence learning, personality, memory, motivation, emotions, coping techniques, and other traits, and abilities. (Rod, P. Intro. to Psychology, p. 6)
Describe- Raymond has an inability to face Charlie whenever he is being addressed.
Explain – The biological approach would state that Raymond’s inability to have human contact is due to a lack of a specific chemical in the brain. This lack of certain chemical balance keeps Raymond from having “normal” human interactions.
Predict – When Raymond is addressed by people he will look away from whoever is interacting with him.
Control – Raymond’s behavior could be monitored by keeping constant contact with him at all times. Also by requiring Raymond to look at the person who he is interacting with at all times throughout communication.
