Racist Speech

In this essay Lawrence wrote about a topic that was very important to him. This essay is about racism, hate speech, the first amendment and how they all work together. He stresses the importance of our first amendment rights and that it would be a very bad thing if we lost them. He also seems to think their should be limits to this in regards to hate speech. Lawrence explains that racial slurs and hate speech should not be covered under the first amendment because it isn’t a freedom to intentional scare, hurt, belittle, and demean other people. He believes that hatred and racism do not fall under the blanket of freedoms that the first amendment allows.
