Racism and Inequality

Racism
Introduction

According to ICERD (International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination) racism is defined as “Any distinction, exclusion, restriction, or preference based on race, color, descent, or national or ethnic origin which has the purpose or effect of nullifying or impairing the recognition, enjoyment, or exercise, on equal footing, of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the political, economic, social, cultural, or any other field of public life.” Keeping this definition in mind, the following web site http://globalissues.org/HumanRights/Racism.asp gives us the details of racial discrimination in various countries, from Europe to the Middle East to Asia, including the tyranny of Adolph Hitler. Based on the region, the website is divided into segments. It is very concise in its approach at describing the events, which gives the reader a fair view of what to expect in the given segment.
