Geography Assessment

1) Name the introduced specie? My introduced specie is the rabbit, which I am studying for this assessment.

2) Where did the species originate? They say that the angora which is the most common type of rabbit came from Ankara, Turkey in Asia minor. Although no one is for sure the name angora is from Ankara because there is the angora cat and angora goat and they all have the same fur.

4) In what year was the species introduced? Why or how was the species introduced? Rabbits are one of Australia’s environmental pests. They have been one of the biggest causes to Australia’s habitat destruction. They were introduced around 1859 and in 1866 only 7 years after they species was introduced they had shot around 14,250 for sport alone.

5) In good seasons there may have been one billion rabbits. As 16 rabbits eat as much as one sheep (Short,1985), this is equivalent to approximately 60 million sheep and the conseq...
