Puritan relationships

Puritan relationships are diverse, but there is only one ideal relationship for all Puritans. Their ideal relationship is that they have devotion to one another, love and tenderness, and also to make sure that their spouse’s belief in god is stronger than the belief in husband and wife. In the poem “To My Dear and Loving Husband,” by Anne Bradstreet and the play The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, we see two different couple’s devotion to each other. Each relationship differs from one another and each touch’s upon the Puritan’s belief of the ideal relationship. Puritans don’t need a spouse as much as they need God. Husbands and wives won’t be following the ideal relationship if they love God more then themselves.
