When people think about psychopaths they envision a person that is scary and evil to look at. They think of someone like Norman Bates or Hannibal Lector. In all reality most psychopathic personalities are never discovered. According to Dr. Robert D. Hare a psychopath is, “a social preditor who charm, manipulate, and ruthlessely plow their way through life, leaving a broad trail of broken hearts, shattered expectations, and empty wallets.” They are people who lack a conscious and will do anything to get ahead.
Another misconception about psychopaths is that they are all murderers. They can be burglers, con artists, abusers, or the head of a large corporation. They are very driven, controlling, and uncarinig. They do not feel that the rules of society apply to them. They tend to exhibit a superiority complex. They sometimes go so far as to belive that they are god’s right hand and can do no wrong.
