Gender Role
When asked the question of what sex you is, there is a definite answer; it’s either male or female. I can say without doubt that I am of the male sex. That is a fact, but when I am asked about my gender, there is not a definite answer. I struggle to put myself in solely one category. I consider myself androgynous, which is neither strictly male nor female; it is comprised of characteristics of both the male and female gender. Throughout my childhood, adolescence, and adulthood I have gained many androgynous characteristics. I will discuss the gender roles in aspects of competitiveness/athletic ability, relationships, and appearance and discuss how I fit into these aspects, the advantages and disadvantages to these aspects, and how much gender role adoption impacts me.
