PROS AND CONS OF MINIMUM STANDARD OF LIVING

Is it the responsibility of government to provide a minimum standard of living for all citizens?

Most definitely “YES”, there are people in the United States that rely on minimum wage or social services as their major source of income for their entire family. These people pay for food, shelter and clothing for themselves, a spouse if they have one and their children, while making only $5.15 an hour or less if the income is from social services.

A minimum standard of living needs to be established so that all citizens can feel secure that they have their basic needs met. The price of living continues to increase, inflation is always a concern, and our money always seems to buy less.

People who earn set yearly salaries receive cost of living increases that help them to face inflation when occurs. But those who earn only minimum wage do not have that luxury. They need the help governments’ help.
