Wood vs. Plastic Cutting Boards

Lots of people nowadays, own both plastic and wooden cutting boards, but there is still a question to be asked. Which type of cutting board is safer to use, and which type should be used for each type of food?

Lots of companies have recommended plastic cutting boards for use, the reason being, because they are easier to wash and use. But new research has shown that the wooden cutting boards are actually safer to use than the plastic, or anti-bacterial kind.
About four years ago, it was discovered that it is easier to recover live bacteria from a plastic cutting board from one that is made of wood. This is because of the capillary action of the dry wood. The bacteria sinks in to the butting board, leaving the exposed area for cutting clean. And then when you wash the wooden boards with hot water, the water goes through the chopping board, cleaning out the germs inside of them.
