Propaganda

Propaganda was used during World War I to get people to believe fighting for the war was the right thing to do, and to get them to contribute. The government showed propaganda through radio, movies, magazines, newspapers, and posters. They were a way to show what everyone was fighting for, however they could be misleading. One poster shown was depicting Hitler thanking a man not participating in the war. When less people participated, the Germans could move faster. This was thought to encourage people to fight, so that Germany wouldn’t win.
Propaganda posters were used most because posters were inexpensive and easily accessible. Television wasn’t that popular, and radio wasn’t widespread. Plus, posters could convey a slogan, along with a much stronger message in the picture. During World ...
