Pride and Prejudice


Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice conveys many different ideals and messages through different techniques and emotions. Each individual chapter has its own contribution to the main story line and in turn each character has their own individual image, personality and nature that is portrayed by Austen through her signature styles and inquisitive stories.

The introduction to the novel is written almost all in dialogue. This mostly occurs between Mr and Mrs Bennett. Through this dialogue the reader is introduced to the couple- the parents of five daughters who are growing up during the time of reputation by marriage.

The first and last paragraphs of this chapter have a special significance and perspective on the beginning of the book. Bringing about the representation of Mr and Mrs Bennett’s dialogue that takes up most of the chapter.
