I arrived to the USA on July, 2001. I came with my father and one brother. I finished high school in Mexico, so I decided to come here to continue my studies. When I was in Mexico, I was excited about coming to this country, but then I did not feel sure about it. My father asked me if I wanted to study in Mexico or here. I decided to come to California because I am from a small town in Mexico and if I wanted to go to the University, I had to go far from my house and live alone. I have never lived alone, so that idea did not appeal to me very much. I thought that if I come to the USA, I could live with my father and my brother and go to school to learn English.
