Positive and Negative Effect on Technology

I think the invention that had the most important effect on technology would have to be the telephone. The reason I think this is because before if you wanted to talk to your aunt who lives in Spokane then you would have to go visit her. If you wanted to get a hold of her then it would take several days to get a letter there, which might be fine for some cases but if it was an emergency then it would not be good.
