Political situation of Somalia.

Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world. War and famine has destroyed the country’s infrastructure and economy, which leaves the country in a state of anarchy. The interim government of Somalia is headed by Prime Minister Ali Khalifa Galad, who was appointed the Interim President in October, 2000. The Head of State is Interim President Abd Al-Qasim Salad who was elected by transitional parliament in August of 2000. He is the first civilian president since the war broke out in 1990.
