Through Symbolism we can understand the Novel Fly Away Peter. Do you agree?

David Malouf uses symbolism frequently in the text, Fly Away Peter. The choice of the object of symbolisation enables us to understand the feelings present in the novel, Fly Away Peter. The points being focused on is his Symbolism with the birds, the waves, Imogen Hardcourt’s photography, and the biplane.

David Malouf uses symbolism to show life’s perpetuity, how life continues on. A powerful example of this would be the migrational patterns of the birds. Regardless of time the birds continued about their own business at their own pace. ‘But more reassuring than all this-the places, the stories of life that was continuous elsewhere- a kind of private reassurance for himself alone, was the presence of the birds, that allowed Jim Saddler to make a map in his head of how the parts in his life were connected, there and here, and to find his way back at times to a natural cycle of things ...
