Plessy Vs. Ferguson

After President Lincoln emancipated the slaves, whites grew worried, even threatened, all of their lives they had known the slaves as less than them. After the Emancipation Proclamation, the government viewed them as equals. This scared the whites. So with their influence the white community set out to stop the blacks from gaining equal rights. Some of these groups were the Ku Klux Klan and other white organizations. They had laws passed that claimed to establish separate but equal rights to blacks. These laws were called the Jim Crow Laws. In actuality the laws that were passed were biased from the start. The establishments designated for whites were considerably better than the ones set aside for the blacks.
