Stereotyping In Pro Wrestling
For many years professional wrestling has entertained the public with its various storylines. What brings these storylines to life is the person who portrays these characters. Each character is unique and different. They come from many ethnicities and cultural backgrounds. The writing team who puts the storylines together brings characters to life based upon each athlete’s ethnicity. Pro wrestling likes stereotypes.
In the early days of professional wrestling you would have a basic heel (villain) and a babyface (good guy) who would basically just get in the ring and wrestle each other. The characters were very plain, dull and not very original. It was almost like a boxing match without the gloves.
