Piaget;s theory of cognitive development - conversion

Cognitive development is intellectual growth referring to the development of thinking, reasoning and problem-solving skills. Piaget developed his own theory of cognitive development, which was based on the idea that cognitive development is a process that is linked to biological maturation and is therefore not fixed. Piaget related the mistakes children make at different ages to cognitive development. This theory included four stages, the sensorimotor stage (birth-2years), the pre-operational stage (2-7 years), the concrete operational stage (7-11 years) and the formal operational stage (11+ years).

Conservation is the ability to recognise that changes in appearance doesn’t change properties such as quantity and volume.
