In order to fulfill the purpose of this lab, it is necessary to derive a formula for copper iodide using the collected data. Our derivation uses fundamental quantitative methods to arrive at a final ratio of iodine to copper in compound and hence a formula unit for copper iodide.

When beginning calculations, we must first find the amounts of copper and iodine that reacted to form the compound.
