On the August of 1914, war broke out in Europe and millions of young men went to war for various reasons. The war between the triple ententes (Britain, France and Russia) and the Central powers (Germany, Austria and Hungary) was welcome and encouraged by everyone. The men of society were put under great pressure by government propaganda and society to enlist; however, most were conscripted. Of the men who didn’t get conscripted, many enjoyed the prospect of returning as brave patriots and were also encouraged by propaganda to defeat the enemy.
