Peeling the Onion, Wendy Orr.

When people lose important parts of their lives they must shed all their layers and rebuild themselves from the inside out, before they can continue with their life. In Wendy Orr’s novel Peeling the Onion, Anna Duncan shows incredible strength and mentality despite losing many of her hopes and dreams. Although the accident brought great pain and sadness to Anna, her family and friends, it also brought great joy and elation.

Throughout the novel Anna loses a lot of her physical aspects due to the accident. Not only did she suffer through a broken neck, smashed thumb and sprained ankle, she also had to face the reality of never being able to do karate again. Anna’s life revolved around karate and it was where she first met Hayden, whom she thought was the man of her dreams.
