A Hero Of Our Time
A Hero Of Our Time, by Mikhail Lermontov contains four stories about an interesting character named Pechorin. Pechorin’s adventures bring out the many different characteristics he contains. One of Pechorin’s characteristics that stands out in my mind is his selfish attitude towards women. The story of Bela and Princess Mary, are the two main stories that deal with Pechorin’s encounters with women. In the first story “Bela,” Pechorin seems to think that Bela is a prize to be won. In the second story “Princess Mary,” Pechorin leads two women to believe he loves them. Through these two narratives Pechorin is seen as an insincere and selfish person. However, there are a few exceptions in which he seems to be real in his feelings towards the women.
