Paradise Lost Paradise Lost Essay In John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost, he depicts a quarrel between God and Satan. In the epic Milton ironically invests many admirable qualities in Satan, one may come to believe that he was mistreated and wrongly expelled. Satan’s perhaps most admirable quality in Paradise Lost is his pride. Although his pride may be thought of as heroic, his confidences surplus comes to be seen as tragic. Before the division of a Heaven and Hell Satan was an angel. When God cast him to Hell Satan felt betrayed, and vengeful. Although he may truly be thought of as evil, he does have many commendable qualities. Satan believes himself worthy of the same status as God, and from his conceit he is more confident and egotistical, “All is not lost; the unconquerable will, and study of revenge, immortal hate, and courage never to submit or y...
