The Ovaries
The ovaries are a pair of female reproductive organs. Ovaries are located in the pelvic region, there is one on each side of the uterus. The ovaries are connected to one another by the Fallopian tubes. The ovaries are about the same size as a grape or an almond, they are about 1.5 inches long. The ovaries have two jobs which are, to produce eggs, which can also be called ova, they also produce female hormones.

Every month during the menstrual cycle, an egg is released from each ovary, the egg travel from the ovaries through the fallopian tubes to the uterus. Sometimes two eggs are released and fertilized this will cause fraternal twins. Ovaries are the main part of the female hormones which are estrogen and progesterone. These hormones take part in the development of the female body, such as breasts, body shape, and body hair. The hormones also regulate a menstrual cycle and pregnancy.
