Outline and Evaulate Two Theories Of Personality Development

One of the main theories of personality development, is the Social Learning Theory. Social learning theorists believe that personality is the sum of all the ways that we have learned to act, think, and feel from the external environment. Personality traits can be learned from a variety of sources and in a number of ways, basically, we are learning all the time.
Personality is accquired through classical and operant conditioning, an example being that a parent will praise a child for being kind so the child wishing to recieve more positive reactions from its parents, will act kindly more often. Gradually the child will 'learn' to be kind due to the conditioning it recieved.
Personailty is also accquired through observational learning, which links in with minority and majority influences. Simply put, observational learning is copying the actions of another. However this can also be reversed so that the individual can learn 'not' to do somthing, for example, seei...
