Our waterways should be better protected

Now discussing the economic and political factors that have resulted in our waterways being under-protected. Specifically, I will discuss how there is a lack of funding from our federal government given over to the protection of our water resources and I will also analyse the political reason why our waterways are not being protected, as they should.
My first point this evening relates to the fact that very little of the government’s
budget is given over to the protection of
waterways. Each year the government

allocates money from its billion-dollar budget to areas of the nation. Our government is not providing enough funding to protect our waterways........ The minister for the environment announced that only $103 million dollars would be expended to protect our coastlines and waterways. So, considering that tonight’s debate doesn’t concern our coastlines, we can assume that we are looking at a meagre
expenditure of about $60-$70 million dollars. This is about $65 mi...
