Our Beautiful Land is Gone Our Beautiful Land Is Gone Ever since I was a little girl I have really enjoyed the beautiful snowy winters of Island Park, Idaho. I always rode snowmobiles anywhere I wanted; I even traveled to West Yellowstone, Montana, which is only about forty-five minutes from Island Park on a snowmobile. Every winter my family and I would go through the beautiful Yellowstone National Park on snowmobiles. As we traveled through, we saw the great buffalo roaming everywhere. They were even up by the main road looking for food. I remember seeing many elk, but I was very disappointed because there were no bears of any kind. My father tried to explain to me that they were sleeping because they were tired. Nevertheless, the bears were gone, and I still enjoyed Yellowstone Park. For the past fifteen years, environmentalists have proposed closing down Yellowstone National Park during the winter to snowmobiles.
