Osmosis investigation.

Aim:

To investigate water movement during osmosis in potatoes.

Hypothesis.

I think that the potato that has the highest solution mass decreases in the potato. If the solution is a low mass then the mass in the potato will rise. If there is no sugar in the solution therefore it is distilled water, the mass of the potato will rise more.


Background information.

Osmosis is the passage of water from a region of high water concentration through semi-permeable membrane to a region of low water concentration. This allows some particles to diffuse through it and not others. Most usual cell membranes are like that. Osmosis is also a Special type of diffusion.
