Organizational Description of El Torito (for Careers in Managment Class)

I presently work for an organization that is similar to a hierarchy, defined as “any ordering of persons, things, or ideas by rank or level” (Shafritz, Jay M., Introducing Public Administration, page 169). I am employed at El Torito Mexican Restaurant and the organizational layout of El Torito is similar to other restaurants. It is a hierarchy because within the restaurant all employees must report to their specific manager. There are four different segments within the restaurant: hostesses/hosts, servers, bartenders/cantina servers, and cooks. Each segment has its own manager; therefore within the restaurant there are 4 managers, plus that specific restaurant’s general manager. All managers are responsible for those under his or her managerial power, as well as having the power to instruct the employees not under their power.
