Open Ocean Biome
The Open Ocean Biome is just one of the biomes that are categorized in the world. Oceans are always moving and have mountains, volcanoes and deep trenches on the ground floor. The Pacific Ocean is the largest of the four main oceans. Although its name means peaceful, this ocean can be very rough. The Pacific Ocean is 64 million square miles. The Atlantic Ocean is the busiest ocean. Many ships cross the Atlantic carrying cargo between the Americas, Africa, and Europe. It is around 32 million square miles. The Indian Ocean is located in an area bordered by the continents of Asia, Africa, Antarctica, and Australia. It is the second smallest and measures at 28 million square miles. The Arctic Ocean is the smallest and the coldest ocean. It is only 5 million square miles. These four main oceans make up the biome that is known as the Open Ocean.
