Edgar Allan Poe is an exquisite poet that takes a journey with his poems in every theme there is. Two poems, “The Raven” and “Annabel Lee,” both deal with the theme of love. “The Bells” deals with several different emotions. Poe is always making references to his long lost love Lenore.

“The Raven” contains many symbols through out itself. The most noticeable and most important symbol is of course the raven. The raven symbolizes his lost love Lenore. He’s waiting in solitude for his love to come back to him. When the raven started pecking at the window, he thought that it was his long lost love Lenore coming back to him. Another symbol in this poem is actually a phrase. At the end of every stanza he puts the phrase “Nevermore” or “Nothing more.” These phrases represent that his lost love Lenore would ...
