Oedipus

IN SOPHOCLES PLAY OEDIPUS THE KING OEDIPUS REVEALS HIS MANY TRAITS


All characters in pieces of English literature portray their own character traits which makes them and the story what they are. In Sophocles play Oedipus the King Oedipus reveals his many traits. From the beginning until the end Oedipus shows us his caring, short temper, and arrogant side of himself. I say this because these are the most obvious traits Oedipus shows in the play.
In the beginning of the play when Oedipus says to the suppliants, “Whether you come in dread, or crave some blessing: Tell me, and never doubt that I will help you in every way I can.” (Sophocles 1384) we see his caring side. He cares for the town’s peoples well being. So in an act of kindness he tries to help them with their problems. At the end of the play Oedipus says to Creon, “My poor daughters, who have shared my table, who never before have been parted from their father--Take care of them, Creon.” (Sophocle...
