Oedipus'

1) According to evidence in the play, is I predestined fate or Oedipus’ character and actions that cause his destruction?

In Sophocles Oedipus Rex it is portrait that life’s outcome is predestined by fate as well as it is influenced by one’s character traits and actions.
Oedipus himself believes in the words of the gods, priest and just old wise men as long as it is to his benefit at the beginning of the tragedy. During the events he realizes that many of the prophecies are relevant to his own life. He tries to avoid the truth by putting the blame towards all other directions than his own.
