Odyssey

1. From Troy Odysseus and his crew arrive in the city of Cicones, in which six men per ship are killed.
2. After escaping the attack in Cicones the men set sail; however, the all powerful Zeus sends them a storm. After the ninth day, they arrive on the land of the Lotus-eaters. The people of the land offer Odysseus’s men the intoxicating lotus. Like a drug, they crave for the drug and their thoughts are consumed by this fruit and have lost interest in returning home.
3. Odysseus must use force to get his men on the ships. Once again the set sail and their next destination is Cyclopes, the land of one eyed giants as the name describes. The come across Polyphemus’s cave (son of Poseidon). He shows hospitality at first but he turns aggressive and eats two of Odysseus’s men and imprisons the rest of the men.
