The Odyssey

It has been ten years since the Trojan War and Odysseus still has not returned to his home in Ithaca. Suitors have overrun his palace and are taking all of his wealth. The suitors want Penelope’s hand in marriage and are courting her. These suitors are very rude and obnoxious. Even through all of this, Penelope has remained faithful to Odysseus. Odysseus son Telamachus wants to throw out these unrulely suitors but does not have the confidence and is young. One of the suitors, Antinous, plans to assassinate the young prince, eliminating the only opposition to their dominion over the palace.
Unknown to the suitors, Odysseus is alive. The nymph calypso has imprisoned him on her island. He wants to go back to Ithaca, to b...
