PROTEIN

Protein is a vital part of our diet, yet it provides a small amount of energy. Protein is needed for growth, maintenance and repair of the body.
Protein is contained in plant and animal foods. Plant foods have a particularly high amount of protein.

PLANT FOODS CONTAINING PROTEIS:

Flour, beans, peas, rice, lentils, nuts, and cereals, which also include bread, pasta etc.


Proteins are made up of amino acids, which are made up of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen, in some cases sulphur and phosphorus.

For our bodies to function properly we need the correct balance of amino acid. We require 20 grams, amino acids – protein per day.
