Notes on 18th century medicine

• Stitches were a common practice
• Needles were used over and over rarely being washed (for stitches)
• Amputations were done without anesthesia.
• Gave musket balls or leather to chew on to lessen the pain. Gave alcohol to lessen the pain
• 18th century medical sciences were not as advanced in scientific knowledge because the body and its functions were still a mystery
